USCIS Webinar – USCIS Organizational Accounts Overview for Legal Representatives – (1/24/24)

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will be holding a webinar for legal representatives entitled, “USCIS Organizational Accounts Overview for Legal Representatives“, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, between 2:00 to 3:30 pm Eastern. The webinar will be about new online organizational accounts used for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B cap and non-cap cases. USCIS stated in their Outreach, “The new organizational accounts will allow petitioning employers and their legal representatives to share access and collaborate on H-1B registrations, Forms I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker for H-1B nonimmigrants, and associated Forms I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service.”

Working in the United States – Temporary (Nonimmigrant) Workers

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) states that Temporary Worker Visas are for persons who want to enter the United States for employment lasting a fixed time, only temporary and not considered permanent, with no path to immigration. Each of these visas requires the prospective U.S. employer not the worker to first file a petition with the USCIS. 1) How long does it take to receive the PERM certification once the Labor is filed? According to the Department of Labor website, it is currently taking approximately 12 months to receive PERM certification once the Labor is submitted. https://flag.dol.gov/processingtimes

2) What is the USCIS filing fee for an asylum application? There is no filing fee to file Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal with the USCIS.

Visa Bulletin – February 2024

The Department of State has released its latest Visa Bulletin.

The monthly Visa Bulletin has changed. The bulletin now summarizes the availability of immigrant numbers during the reported month for: “Application Final Action Dates” (consistent with prior Visa Bulletins) and “Dates for Filing Applications,” indicating when immigrant visa applicants should be notified to assemble and submit required documentation to the National Visa Center using Consular Processing (outside of the US) or file on their own with USCIS Form I-485 (within the US).

Checking Your USCIS Processing Time Online!

You can check USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) processing times at any time online using the link below, it is on their web site. You will need to select your form number, next select the form category, and last select the office processing your case and they will display a processing time. USCIS has made processing times easier to understand and provides a more realistic date range.

Check Case Processing Times

The processing time range is how long it takes for USCIS to process your type of case from the date they received it. USCIS processes cases in the order they receive them, and they normally update this information monthly. The estimated time range displayed is based on data captured over the last two months.
