U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated the USCIS Policy Manual, Volume 4, the section which gives guidance on valid marriages between a principal asylee and their spouse or principal refugee and their spouse. Their new guidance states that the marriage must be legally valid under the law of the jurisdiction where the marriage was completed. This new guidance took effect on March 3, 2025!
