- Family-Sponsored Categories Surge: Final Action Dates for family preferences saw their largest jumps of the entire fiscal year. Globally, F3 advanced by 29 months, F4 by nearly 26 months, F2B by roughly 20 months, and F1 by over 13 months. The F2A category advanced by one month to August 22, 2026.
- Employment-Based Categories Stall: Final Action Dates for EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, and EB-5 Unreserved remain entirely unchanged from August. The sole exception is EB-4 (including Certain Religious Workers), which advanced by two months.
- Year-End Exhaustion Warnings: Because this marks the end of FY2026, the State Department issued a strict warning that high demand could make EB-1 India, EB-2, and unreserved EB-5 completely “unavailable” or forced into retrogression before September 30, 2026, if annual limits are capped early.
- USCIS Filing Guidance: USCIS has confirmed that employment-based applicants must use the Final Action Dates chart (Chart A) for adjustment of status applications this month.
- Diversity Visa Deadline: All adjustments and visa issuances for the DV-2026 program lottery must be completely finalized by September 30, 2026, or the status will be permanently lost.
